Therapeutic
Support for Lasting Emotional Change

Counselling isn’t about quick fixes, it’s about being heard. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step and it’s normal to feel unsure about what you need or where to begin. Herts & Cambs Counselling offers talking therapy to adults nationwide. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening in your life and make sense of your thoughts and emotions. Working at your own pace, we’ll move towards meaningful, lasting change.

You may be seeking support with relationship challenges, dealing with anxiety, or simply feeling stuck. You may not even know what you need yet, and that’s okay – many people start in the same place, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. When you are ready, we are here.

What is Counselling?

The Therapeutic Process

Counselling offers a safe, confidential space to explore your feelings and experiences, with someone trained to listen without judgement or bias. It can help you to make sense of challenges and understand yourself more deeply, ultimately helping you to find new ways to cope or move forward in your life.

There are many different kinds of talking therapy and at Herts & Cambs Counselling, we use the Psychodynamic approach. This type of counselling explores how our past experiences and unconscious patterns shape who we are today. By understanding the deeper roots of our emotional responses, we can address the underlying causes of anxiety, depression, and personal distress, rather than simply managing the symptoms. Our clients tell us that they leave sessions feeling;

- Listened to in a way they haven't experienced before

- Less alone

- Clearer about what they are feeling and why

- Unconditionally supported

- Better equipped to cope with challenges

- Ready to make positive changes

Whether meeting face-to-face at one of our comfortable therapy rooms in North Hertfordshire or Cambridge, or connecting via video or telephone across the UK, you will connect in a confidential space defined by empathy and understanding.

To find out if counselling is right for you, get in touch for an initial conversation. It's free, and there is no pressure or commitment - just a chance to talk, ask questions and explore how it feels.

About us

Herts & Cambs Counselling was founded by Kirsty Heath, a Psychodynamic Counsellor based in North Hertfordshire. The  service is founded on the belief that meaningful change happens through the deep, relational exploration of our inner worlds - and that this is an opportunity everybody should be able to access when they need to. That is why we offer both in-person and remote therapy via video or telephone, to clients across the UK. We work with an accessible fee-structure that aims to make counselling available to all, including those on low-income.

Through this approach, we support adults navigating the complexities of everyday life, as well as those who need a greater level of intervention or specific psychosocial support.

Kirsty began her career as a counsellor during the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020, when we were all experiencing significant life change.

"At the time, I was living in London with my husband and an eight-month old baby. I remember thinking how hard everyday life was and that collectively, so many people must be feeling the same. It was then that I decided to refocus my career in the field of mental health,  because needing therapy doesn't mean that something is wrong with us - it means that being a human can be hard, and we all deserve support as we navigate the hard times".

Kirsty has since completed her training in Psychodynamic Counselling and has been practising clinically since 2024. She is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and alongside her private work with Herts & Cambs Counselling, works as an Associate Counsellor for The Counselling Foundation in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Outside of her professional work, she is a School Governor and a community volunteer. She is based in Royston, Hertfordshire.
